Determination Inc. is part of a fast-growing movement of neighborhood villages with the mission of helping our neighbors remain in their homes as they age.
A Village is a membership-based, non-profit organization that provides assistance and services, which could include rides to doctors, minor home repair, social activities, and daily check-in calls—all depending on the member's needs.
The Dallas Foundation is the fiscal sponsor of the Determination Inc. fund. The Dallas Foundation is a 501(c)(3) publicly supported charity (Federal Tax ID 75-2890371). We are also a member of the Village to Village Network (www.vtvnetwork.org).

This initiative was begun by Renee Karp and Caren Edelstein in response to the needs of their aging parents. Watching our aging parents lose agency over their own lives was a call to action. We did our research and found the Beacon Hill model that has now become a nationally recognized program. Our homage to our parents and the city we love is to make the village movement a reality in Dallas. Today there are about 215 operational villages in the U.S, with about 130 in development.
